Widdale is one of the first dales to join into Wensleydale, where the Widdale Beck merges with the River Ure. Widdale Beck starts on Wold Fell and joins the River Ure at Appersett. The road from Ingleton to Hawes runs along Widdale. The Snaizelholme Beck joins into Widdale, sourcing from Grove Head, running between Widdale and Dodd Fell. Wild cats have been spotted in this area, living among the many limestone features and sink holes.
