Upper Swaledale starts just above the village of Keld on the River Swale where it is joined by the Stonesdale Beck. The dale comes to an end at the village of Reeth. There are impressive limestone cliffs and waterfalls alongs the banks of the River Swale. It has been described as alpine in its appearance. The two most prominent waterfalls are the Kisdon Force and the East Gill Force.
