The majestic River Twiss, one of the 2 rivers comprising the Ingleton Waterfalls Walk, flows along Kingsdale before reaching Thornton Force, just beyond the dale. Its source is the Kingsdale Beck at Keld Head. Above Keld Head the river cannot usually be seen as it takes an underground route, together with many other small streams, to resurge in a prominent pool at Keld Head.
Kingsdale has a minor road running through it, and an easy footpath just short of Keld Head provides access to Thornton Force. Kingsdale can be entered at Thornton in Lonsdale (near to Ingleton). It is a lonely and isolated dale and leads to Deepdale and Dentdale.
