This popular dale runs from Milthrop near Sedbergh through Dent and Cowgill, to Denthead. It is very scenic and provides access to Whernside, one of the 3 peaks. Running its entire length is the River Dee, joined by many tributaries, such as Barbon Beck and Deepdale Beck.
The beautiful village of Dent lies midway along the Dentdale. A long distance footpath, the Dale's Way, follows the valley floor leaving the dale at Dale Head. From the slopes of Crag Hill, flanking the southern side of Dentdale, are magnificent views across to Whernside and Widdale Fell. One of the popular routes up Whernside begins at Dentdale.
