Coverdale runs from Kettlewell in Wharfedale to Middleham, south of Leyburn in Wensleydale. It is a long, picturesque valley, along most of which runs the River Cover. The picturesque villages of Coverdale include Horsehouse, a small pleasant village, Carlton and West Scrafton.
Along the banks of the River Cover, near to Coverbridge, the dale opens up. This is a popular place for picnickers.
