arbondale stretches from the small village of Barbon near Kirkby Lonsdale to Dent and Dentdale. The Barbon Beck runs along its course. amd is often populated in the warm summer months with picnickers idling and bathing in its shallow waters.
Flanking Barbondale is Middleton Fell, rising to a height of 592 metres.
